The Syncro Polypro Hooded Vest is excellent for layering, and turns any wetsuit into a hooded model. The body of the vest is made of 8oz polypropylene (we call it poly fleece), which allows it to slide easily under any wetsuit without added bulk. The poly fleece material wicks moisture from your skin, keeping you drier and warmer. The all 2mm hood is made of 100% superstretch neoprene for ultimate flexibility, has a sun visor, and a cinch strap.
Quiksilver wetsuits come with a 1 year warranty on materials and craftsmanship. You can help keep your wetsuit in great shape for years to come by always rinsing in fresh water and hanging to dry. A number of wetsuit care products can be found on our Wetsuit Accessories page.

good hood, but check your head (brim) size for sizing
Reviewer: alan s
This is a quality hooded vest, but I had trouble with the sizing. I weigh 140#,5'8", and both the S and M sizes did not go over my head. I wound up ordering a L, and that BARELY fit over my head (i'm not kidding; I was about to return the L too, i got my hair cut, and then I was able to get it over my head barely!), and now the torso is a bit bigger than I would like it to be. So, the most important measurement with this item is your 'Brim' size (mine is 22.5). I do like the 'double bib' that this hood has, as It folds over the top of your wetsuit neck to help keep water out. The neck material does not stretch much at all, I find this unusual as I have other hoods that easily go over the head
Nice material but not best design.
The hod material bunches and stretches too much over my face. I found the Excel type to be better I'm general.
comfy,soft, good stuff
Perfect Base layer
Was sweating from my car to the water on a 45 dergree day with a 26 mph NW wind on me. I bought this to wear under a 3/2 chest zip in colder water instead of going into my 4/3 and never felt a trickle go down my back!! Hood fits great with very little water entering around the face. The vest comes down below the waistline and stays snug to your body. Doesn't add any bulk under your suit whatsoever. Just a great product in my opinion

I feel like I can stay out all day wearing this thing! Fits good no chafing bunching or iritation.
For those earily morning go outs a must. This year the water is 48-52 with off shores. This will resolve your reserved side and get you in the water.
Nice hood/vest combo to get more out of a suit
Got this to extend my 4/3 a little deeper into the fall. Fits great, very comfortable hood without the face squish. Vest part is nice and thick with the fleece-really keeps you drier in the suit. The vest is also longer in the torso than alot of the other rash/hood combos I've had, which keeps it from sliding up when you pull your suit on. Definitely recommend this.
Best Hood/Vest On the Market

With 21 years of wetsuit experience, dive and surf, I feel well-qualified to comment. I've used/owned numerous wetsuit products over the years (Body Glove, O'neill, Xcel, Billabong, Rip Curl, FCS, Hotline, Henderson, etc...). Before this year, my last winter suit was the Xcel Infiniti 5/4/3 with the slick skin 3 mil built in hood. This was a super warm suit and the warmest hood situation. Went back to a 4/3, hoodless this season for increased flexibility and a good 4/3 with solid seams is all you need for VA/NC winters. I have used the typical vestless 3 mil hoods, caps, and the 1.5 mil O'neill Neo hood/vest combo. The Neo has held up, is very comfortable, and will get you by. But it is not warm enough for the colder conditions. You lose most of your heat through your head, although anywhere cold water leaks in through your gear makes it painful and can shorten your session. The Neo does well in preventing flushes but because the material is thinner and with the nylon on the outside the back of the head and neck tend to get colder. You also donít want a hood that isnít designed to prevent cold water flushes. Several things you want to look at: thickness, materials, seams, comfort, and design. Wetsuit manufacturers put nylon on the outside of wetsuits to increase the durability and life of the suit. But nylon holds water. In the winter, with colder temps and higher wind, the cold water trapped in the nylon as the wind blows will make the hood less effective, like having an ice-pack on your head. That can be overcome to an extent by thicker rubber. But the thicker you go, the less flexible it becomes. Many folks hate wearing hoods in the winter because they say they are uncomfortable or mess up their equilibrium. So there's a balance between warmth and comfort. Also, as a certified rescue scuba diver, you learn when dealing with hypothermia victims to apply heat packs to the armpits, crotch, and back of the neck. So the back of the neck is critical, which makes caps with no neck almost useless. And a vest adds warmth to your core, as well as keeping your hood on tightóno slipping up your neck and water getting in. I also think the vest is better than long sleeves as the sleeves cut into your arm flexibility when paddling. The hood of the Syncro is mostly slick skin, increasing warmth as water rolls right off. The parts that arenít slick skin increase the comfort and the Syncro is super comfortable around the chin. The 2 mil thickness is perfect, thick enough to get the job done but keeps it flexible. It is also cut right, in the design, around the eyes, not obstructing your peripheral vision, as some hoods seem to do. It is very well sealed. It is possible you wonít even get your hair wet in a session, which is epic when it comes to a hood. By far, the best design on the market, in my opinion. And donít let brand loyalty make you miss out on a great product. Jerry P.
