The 1.5mm Rip Curl Rubber Soul Vest was originally designed for paddle sports such as stand up paddleboarding (SUP) but we found that it's a great piece for any watersport. The entire top is made of 100% superstretch neoprene for maximum flexibility in the water. Seams are flatlock stitched for extra durability, and the exterior is coated in wind block neoprene. Side zipper eases entry/exit.

Nice vest

Reviewer: Do you like my tight vest?
Got this for summer use in New England. Wanted unrestricted arm movement so I was also looking at short john wetsuits, but decided on the vest because of the relative ease of taking it on and off and the packability. For these reasons, during the last few weeks, I've ended up taking it with me whenever I go to the beach even if I don't plan on surfing, which I would never do with a wetsuit. You do sacrifice warmth compared to a shorty-- there is a greater tendency to get flushed. I've used it bodysurfing in 65 degree water and you will get cold doing that fairly quickly, but again, compare it to bodysurfing in just shorts and it is an improvement. It is much better used for warm weather surfing since you are not constantly submerged in the water. I surfed last week for 3.5 hrs in 67 degree water (80 degree air temp /sunny) and only got slightly cold during the last half hour. Taking it off is quick and easy thanks to the small side zipper (many other vests on the market seem to be zipperless). Also, there is a loop to connect to your boardshorts which helps prevent them getting ripped off when you get tossed by a wave. I'm 6'0 170 and a large is a great fit on me.
