One thing that was a surprise to me is that the 6mm runs all the way down the legs. The 4mm extends out through the arms. My prior suit was a 6/5/4 and the legs and arms were 4mm. It's not a big deal, just something to be aware of. Most importantly, it kept me warm in 39 degree, Alaska waters. Now that the temps are up to 47 degrees, I probably could have gone with the 5/3. Also, I have claustrophopic issues so can't do chest zip. I appreciate this warm suit that is easy to put on and take off.

I used this suit for the World's Toughest Mudder. This was done on November 17-18 when it was about 31 degrees outside, water temperature was in the low 30's. There were many water features on this 10 mile course. I ran about 30 miles in this suit and it was awesome I never got cold and it fit really nice. I wish the elbows were reinforced like the knees are the elbows on my suit are fairly scuffed up now but I was expecting to shred this suit to pieces. Maybe this is common wetsuit knowledge but don't pee in your suit! It gets really hot right next to where you don't want scalding hot liquids.

So far so good. I just purchased the 6/4 wetsuit and have used it three times. After years of using Henderson and HyperFlex suits for kayak surfing year-round in NJ, I wanted to try a suit with more high end features, but I didn't want to break the bank doing it. The Dawn Patrol suit seems to fit the bill. It's definitely more stretchy than the 4 or 5 suits I've used and seems to have some nice features, although the back zip does get stuck fairly easily and I have to be careful with it, particularly when unzipping (on the plus side the back zip is short, but not too short to get in and out easily, and seems to be more watertight than my previous back zip suits). At $200 the suit is as cheap or cheaper than the 5mm suits I've previously purchased, and seems to be of higher quality. Time will tell but, so far, I like it a lot and am likely to switch to the Rip Curl Dawn Patrol lineup (a 3/2 is next) particularly since I prefer winter suits without attached hoods and the selection is limited for 5mm and 6mm thicknesses. I might end up giving this new 6/4 suit 5 stars after a year or so of use but, after 3 times out, I don't yet know how it will hold up over time.
