Men's surfing wetsuits of 1mm and 2mm are good for water temperatures of 70 degrees and higher. A 3/2mm wetsuit is recommended for 60 to 69 degree water; 4/3mm for 52 to 69 degree water; 5/4/3mm for 45 to 51 degree water. If you plan to extend your season and continue surfing even when water temperatures drop, consider a 6/5/4mm hooded suit, which can be worn in water temperatures as low as 35 degrees.
